Refusing to Move Out at 22?!

 Hello sweeties!

When I got the call that my family and I was picked out of many other applicants to get the 2 bedroom townhouse perfect for my small family, I was genuinely excited.

When my fiancé and I actually signed our signature on the contract labeled lease, I began to come hesitant and nervous. I wanted to walk out the office and run back to the one place I truly called home. The place where I can cherish the last of my mother’s memories.

I have to admit being in my early 20s with a small family, I thought 5 years after my mother’s passing, moving out would be a “stroll through the park” mentally – wrong!

Moving out is a huge step in a person’s life, that’s the huge step into the real world. But actually packing up away the belongings/memories and moving away from the last place I was genuinely happy growing up in.

However, becoming homesick was the last thing I expected to happen while in the process of moving.

I was excited for the new beginnings to come. I was looking for hours on Pinterest for modern home decor for all the rooms of the townhouse! That you can check out my creative side here

It’s about that time I take that big step into the “real world” with “real world” problems with my little family and begin to create memories of our own, in our own place. And what I mean by “real world” problems is bills, bills and more bills! When your splitting the bills amongst 4 other siblings, I was able to tuck away a good amount for savings. (Cha-Ching!) Now I have to get use to paying more cash than I would like.

It didn’t hit me that I was actually moving until my fiancé asked how many boxes should he purchase for the move and which company for the moving truck.

I didn’t want to move anymore, I didn’t want to forget all the memories that was created by my siblings, mom and I. Every room is just how my mom left it after she passed away.

I still decorate the Christmas tree with the same ornaments she used to decorate the tree with.

It’s not fair to my family, I can’t be selfish to them by dwelling on something that’s a part of life and nothing  an be done away unfortunately. There’re many ways I can cherish the memories that my siblings, mom and I created while she was still alive:

  • Pictures.
  • Stories.
  • Home made videos.
  • Favorite items. (Music, food, movie etc.)
  • Activities in their honor.

And plenty more..

It’s going to be hard to move away from the once place I ever truly called home, but if I’m ever feeling homesick, it’s only a few blocks down the street! So I can always visit. Haha!

Until next time!

How Do You Stay Connected with Your Loved Ones?

Hello sweeties,

Ever since I became a mom, keeping in touch with my family and friends has always been very important, but hard to maintain for me. Being a full time working mom to 2 small children, I become so busy with work and my personal life that one day I realized I haven’t spoked to anyone other than my fiancé and small children for over a week!

You would think with all the updated technology, it would be much easier and smoother to stay in contact with your loved ones, well unfortunately no. Technology is improving rapidly each year and for me personally, it’s making my social life much easy for me to have under control. Some of my favorite electronics I use to stay in touch with my family are:

  • Social media.
  • Video chat.
  • Emails.
  • Text message.
  • Facebook messenger.
  • WhatsApp.
  • Linkedin.

Yet, some people want to keep the technology as simple as possible or may not know how to use it at all. Some of my close family members and friends are getting a little older and technology isn’t really their forte. However in my opinion, nothing beats sitting face to face and catching up with our loved ones with laughs, conversations and just good company. But what about the people that have busy schedules? Working moms (like me) that are too tired to pick up the phone after a long work day? Or what if your or your loved ones moved miles away?

What’s your next options on keeping in touch with your loved ones?
Luckily, I’ve found an amazing product for keeping in touch with older family members, children and family/friends that live far away, all while away from the comfort of home! It’s easy to use and user friendly, it’s the Nucleus Anywhere Intercom.

“Nucleus is a family communication device that connects you with the people you love, whether they’re downstairs or across the country.”
Unfortunately being a full time working mom, I get to miss out on the precious memories of my family and children while away at work. Using Nucleus Intercom, I’m able to teach/improve my older family members technology use, watch my daughter do that cartwheel she’s been dying to show me, watch my son pick his nose when no ones looking (haha!) and notify my fiancé dinner is ready over the intercom while away from my home or in the house as well.

It ensures me that my family is safe at home and I’m able to check in on them throughout the work day with great clarity and sound. My older family members were able to set up the device on their own and use it successfully the same day, even my 4 year old daughter was able to program it to call and hang up with no problem!

There is also a free mobile app called The Nucleus Mobile Companion that will allow you to connect to any Nucleus Intercom and connect with your family while on the go! How amazing is that?

The technology world has made communicating with my family much easier. I was aware my family had to improve on our communication, but geez! I didn’t realize how desperately we need it. And I’m happy that we did!

How do you stay connected with your family members?

How Becoming a Teenage Mom Saved my Life.

Hello my sweets,

As many of you are aware, I had lost my mother at the age of 16 two days before Christmas in 2011. One little piece of information I have left out was that few months later after my mom’s passing, I was not expecting to receive the news that would change my life forever.

I was in denial that I was 11 days late on my period-I’m never late, 28th day of each month for 5 days! This routine has been apart of my life since I was 12 years old and all of a sudden it wants to do something out of the ordinary and not arrive on time! It was out of ordinary and it definitely made me raise an eyebrow.

The thought of pregnancy was at the very bottom of the list, I was going through a lot during that time frame anything could’ve been the cause of my period being late.

  • Stress.
  • Medication.
  • Excessive exercise.
  • Illness.

Stress had to be the cause of my late period right? I mean sure my boyfriend and I were “knocking boots” the month prior (Sorry, TMI) and sure I read online that after day 3 of a late period that’s a tell sign you’re pregnant. But you don’t believe everything you read on the internet right? I was a rock stuck in a hard place.

Yet, it made sense why I went with stress as my reason for my late period, I was still grieving my mom’s death. But taking a pregnancy test wouldn’t hurt right? So I thought, I’ll never forget the day I was sitting on the bathroom floor shocked after tearing through 3 boxes of positive pregnancy test of any brand you could think of! I was definitely pregnant and the thought that I couldn’t tell my mom, broke my heart into pieces.

After my mother’s death I was certain I was going to conflict self harm or even worse. I couldn’t face the truth, that the one person I need the most in my life is gone. However, the reality of me becoming a mother hit me hard, once a heartbeat was discovered stronger than ever at my scheduled doctor’s appointment later that week. It’s not about me anymore. Regardless of how I was feeling or thinking, I had a baby that needs their mother just like how I need mine. I refuse to put my child(ren) through the emotions and pain I was experiencing from losing my mom.  I had to get up and learn how to support and be a mother to my own child, and I had no clue where to begin or who to go too.

I went with my instincts and hoped for the best.

January 6, 2013 at 10:06 pm, I was greeted by a 6 pounds 1 ounce, 19 1/2 inches long baby girl that I named Adrienne. (I got her name from Adrienne Bailon from Cheetah Girls.)

It seemed as if Earth stopped spinning, and everything slowed down once our eyes met with one another’s for the very first time. Once they laid her on my chest, first thing I thought was “Your the little ham that refused to move your foot away from my ribs all these months!”. Haha

It was if all my fears, worries and concerns we’re gone. I fell in love the second I laid my eyes on her coming out the womb.(Yes, I watched through a mirror and it was gross but very beautiful thing to watch.)

Whenever the nurses cleaned her up and family and friends departed after welcoming the newest arrival to the family. I was nervous but ecstatic to have some alone time with my bundle of joy.

We would stare at each other for hours, nothing could break our concentration. Then one day something went off in my head-I played a part in creating this little human, which gave me a superior feeling that I am strong and can do anything as long as I put my mind to it and never give up.

My daughter is now 4 and from that day forward, I thank my daughter for saving my life. The day I discovered I was expecting, was the day Adrienne became top priority in my life, she was my responsibility. I had to protect, love, guide and shelter her, and what better person to take on that huge responsibility than your mom?

My daughter changed me in so many ways, one day I was knocking on the Grim Reaper’s door begging him to take me away from all my problems. Now the thought of my children and I separate for any reason makes me feel sick to my stomach.

Thank you so much Adrienne and Carter for being the piece that filled the empty space in my heart. Mommy will always love you!

Until next time!

4 “Popping” Drugstore Beauty Products of 2017!

Hello my sweets! A new year brings on new opportunities for people in anything they set their mind too. Once you decide you’re ready to go after your dreams, go for it and never stop until your are happy.

Back to the message at hand, This year I vowed I would do what I love this time around and stop wasting time with excuses. As I grew older I grew a found love for any and everything that’s about beauty. For some ladies and gents wearing eyelash extensions and doing a cut crease gives them confidence. And honey! The world is your oyster, may your day be as flawless as your makeup!

There’s no denying everytime my fiancé and I would  go shopping at our local drugstore (of course before getting dragged away like a little kid getting denied candy by hubby haha) I would go right into the makeup aisle and browse the amazing selections of inexpensive beauty products from anti-wrinkle creams to concealers and makeup tools for a very cheap price.

The amazing thing about drugstore products is that they’re hundreds of Makeup Dupes on Pinterest of MUAS performing swatches with highend makeup products and find that perfect match to pull off that high end look and still save money.

For example, ELF and MAC setting spray has the same consistency as one another. It gives your final appearance a matte polished finished and the only difference between the products is the price.

While shopping I have laid my eyes on a few makeup products which made me do a little research of my own on the products that’s supposed to be “popping” in the drugstore aisle of 2017. After watching beauty YouTubers reviews and reading customer feedback, I’m convinced the products listed below are a must have in my makeup bag for 2017.

I have read many reviews all stating the same thing about the matte lipstick by Milani Cosmetics. This matte lipstick comes with amazing pigmented colors and the lipstick stays on all day! You can get it at your local Target or Walgreens for 7.99 or online here.

I have found this amazing highlighter by NYX from TatyBeauty a beauty YouTuber while looking to expand my “No Makeup” makeup look. TatyBeauty gives this highlighter a thumbs up if your looking for an inexpensive good quality highlighter. You can get this product at your local Ulta for $8.99 USD!

When I was browsing for a new electric facial brush to purchase online for these clogged pores and blackheads, I was over joyed when I ran into the LAVO Giro Cleansing Brush on Amazon. I was skeptical because of the “eyebrow raising” price of  $25.97 USD. However, the customer reviews said otherwise that this facial brush is definitely on the “popping” list of beauty products and facial cleaning brushes. It minimizes pores, removes diets + oils and makes your face feel soft and clean right after.

Also! If you use promotion code “GIRO5OFF” it will take an additional $5.19 USD off the total of the facial brush! Look at that, inexpensive brush and more money in your pocket, sounds like a deal to me!

If you haven’t heard about ColourPop Cosmetics by now I just have one question – Where have you been?! ColourPop Cosmetics are known for their pigmented eyeshadows and of course their eyebrow selections.  Their eyebrow pencils come in a variety of natural colors.

  • Blonde.
  • Honey Blonde.
  • Dope Taupe.
  • Arched Auburn.
  • Red Head.
  • Angin’ Brunette.
  • Black N’ Brown.
  • Jesp

If you want natural looking eyebrows for $5.00 USD, Click here.

I’m excited to see what’s more to come from the beauty industry and this is only the beginning for my beauty journey! Will I try to keep my natural look or will I experience with vibrant colors?

Until next time!

I’m Turning 22… Now What?

I’ll be turning 22 in 3 months, 17 days, 6 hours and 50 minutes and counting.

Why is accepting that I’m getting older a hard pill to swallow? Is it the gray hair? Death? Wrinkles? Or there’s a 50/50 chance I’ll poo my pants if I laugh to hard? Haha Whatever the answer may be, I wish I can find the fountain of youth and go scuba diving all through it and stay young and alive forever! Wouldn’t that be cool?!

Turning 21 is a huge celebration for teenagers upgrading to adults. But what happens once you turn 22?

When I was 10 years old I use to sit at the top of my bunk bed and daydream for hours on how I wanted to be rich lawyer that own a law firm. By the age of 21 I thought I would have achieved a lot by now, degree in some sort, Traveled to atleast 25% of the U.S. and own a business. I had very high expectations for myself as a kid, Yet as I got older my childhood dreams of becoming a lawyer and owning a law firm became a vague memory.

Nonetheless, This isn’t the end of the world. Life isn’t a movie where there is a script or a retake. You can change the ending and title to your “movie” however you want it. You have to take the steps to get to achieve those goals plus more.

Even though 22 isn’t something you shot to the mountain tops over. However, this year will be my year to step out from the crowd, walk my own path and find my own destiny without no guidance and just follow my gut instinct!

Until next time!

Inexpensive Must Have Makeup Brushes!

Hello lovelies! Just recently I have discovered my new found love for makeup and beauty. After watching some of my favorite Beauty YouTubers, I had to upgrade my makeup tools and also not spend a fortune at the same time.

I was on the internet for hours trying to pick and choose between many great options. Yet, I found the Silky 10 piece by Duôrīme Makeup. I was skeptical on purchasing the  eyeshadow brush kit due too – I’ve never heard of this brand before and the brushes we’re crazy cheap, It was a “too good to be true” situation. For only $7.98 USD for a set of 10 brushes I was tempted to hit the “Save Order” button. However, I wanted to say forget it and use MannyMua promo code for guaranteed good quality brushes from Morphe Brushes. After a lot of thinking any thing that helps me save extra money and the brushes are good quality for the price, you have my full attention. I took the risk and purchased the brushes. And I’m thankful I did, These brushes we’re worth the risk!

Every makeup artist on planet Earth always recommend to investing on good quality makeup brushes which is 100 percent correct. Not only does it allow your makeup application to be applied smoothly and easily but it makes your final look appear ten times better!

I was immediately drawn to the small angle brush, It was perfect for applying my NYX Tame & Frame pomade to my eyebrows finishing it with a defined natural look. To my surprise the bristles on the brushes were very soft for the material to be synthetic. But for the price, I’m not complaining!

The eyeshadow brush set comes with,

  • Small angled brush.  (I Use)
  • Eye Shader.
  • Flat Definer. (I Use)
  • Short Shader.
  • Angled Shading.
  • Tapered Blending. (I Use)
  • Concealer Brush. (I Use)
  • Pencil Brush. (I Use)
  • Lip Brush. (I Use)
  • Eyeliner Brush. (I Use)

I have been using these brushes for a few months and there has been ZERO shedding, the handle is sturdy and the bristles held up well after its washings. And the brushes distribute the product fantastically and apply a lot of pigment to all applied areas.

If your a beginner on a budget looking for inexpensive starter eyeshadow brushes to add to your beauty tools or for when traveling away from home, I highly recommend giving these brushes a try here!

Until next time!

How To Gain Mental Strength and Happiness?

Hello lovelies, Ever since my mom passed away 5 years ago around Christmas of 2011, I have been battling with depression and anxiety ever since. I was only 16 years old at the time of her death and 3 months later I was hit with the harshness of reality, I discovered I was pregnant with my first daughter. I was afraid, ecstatic and sad all at once. I had to be strong for my daughter but I didn’t know what steps to take or where to begin. My mother was the person I would turn to for everything – unfortunately I no longer have that privilege anymore. What was I going to do? 17 years old with a newborn baby and always at war with myself. I was ready to grab ahold of my happiness once and for all and never let go.

One day I sat down with a pencil and paper and considered what would make my mother proud? Continuing my education, traveling the country , be a full time mother, own my own business? The list was non-stop. However, I had no clue what would make her proud because she couldn’t confirm it. I was so focused on fulfilling my mom’s “independence” trait that I failed to realize what my mom really wanted overall – that’s for me and my siblings to be happy

Now I’m a full time working mother providing for my family after a struggling 4 years of battling depression and anxiety and I’m in a much better and happier place. But it wasn’t easy, It didn’t take a few days It took time and patience to convince myself I’m strong and I can conquer anything if I put my mind to it.I wasn’t myself and everyone around me knew something wasn’t quite right. Once it took a toll on my loved ones I had to spring into action.

I completed 5 easy steps that helped me gain my mental strength back once for all and became stress free during the process . I hope these tips helps you like they have helped me.

1. Dont Waste Energy on Things You Can’t Control! – Anytime something didn’t go how I planned or expected I immediately shift the situation off of me onto something else and shut down. I get completely discouraged and want to give up. However we can’t control how things unravel once it starts. The only thing we can control is how we handle it once everything goes into place – bad or good. Accept any responsibility that’s related to you and move on.

2. You CAN’T Please Everyone and DON’T– Trying to care less about pleasing everyone was one of the hardest things I struggled to change and ultimately stop while trying to build my mental strength. Not everyone is going to see the potential in your work – and that’s okay. Anytime someone wasn’t to fond of my material I would ask for insight, tips, recommendations on books or videos etc to gain knowledge and hear a success story as well. Accepting constructive criticism shows your willing to hear different opinions to improve your projects and it also shows how mature one can be without getting offended by someone’s views.

3. Don’t Give Up After The First Try– I know we’re all expecting to see our creation and hard work pay off at the end and shoot only to the top. But what if your masterpiece didn’t get the results you we’re looking for? Everyone started off at the same place – the bottom. We all have a project we put our blood, sweat and tears into for it to only come up short at the end. It’s only up to you if you want to change the scenery and move up the ladder to success and productivity.

4. Don’t Let Fear Stop You From Taking “Life Changing” Risks.- Taking risks can be sometimes worrisome for others. However, I always recommend to outweigh your options before making any final decisions. Learning the benefits and downfalls of accepting the possibilities of a risk can point you in the right direction without harm coming to your mental health or brand.

5. If Its From The Past, Keep It There. – Never dwell on the past and regret any decision you made. Acknowledge what decisions were made and grow from the life learning experience. Live for the present and grow for the future ahead of you.

“The minute you think about giving up, Think of the reason why you held on for so long.”

I hope these strategies make the road to your destination much brighter and clear to travel. Cheers to gaining your mental strength and happiness!

How To Achieve Balance In Your Life.

Hello my loves, Balance is something that  some of us struggle to work on the daily basis. Trying to balance between career, family, health, hobbies, personal time and home care is not easy; and some find reasons to not complete the task altogether which enhances lazy habits.

Once you achieve balance in your life you will feel better mentally, physically and spiritually. And you will begin to feel better about yourself and the life you currently have and the people that are in it.

I have discovered 4 easy and adjustable tips that not only made me feel better as a person but look at life in a positive light. My routine became light and easy in all aspects in my life once I adopted these easy tips and I want to share them with you!

We will all probably hear this saying over a million times during our lifetimes. “Breakfast is the most important meal of the day” and that statement is 100% true. After becoming a mother of two, I would rush out the door and completely forget to grab a bite to eat to avoid the kids being late to daycare and me being late to work. We receive energy from our food and of course when we wake up in the morning our energy meter is at a zero. Taking 10 minutes out of your morning to prepare a delicious “beneficial”breakfast promotes productivity and time management skills. You will thank yourself when your not dragging your feet throughout the day once you adopt this habit.

It’s always important to never overwork yourself. Set aside things that needs to be done immediately and neatly put away the other items that can wait a few days.  Priorities tend to change over time so adjust accordingly to the change. Once I became a mom my fiancé, family, career, overall health and my home became my top priorities. You’re the only one that knows what needs worked on in your life and what doesn’t, Make time to complete your tasks.

It’s very important to take care of your health. Improving your health will make you feel better physically and your mind will be more clear and have more clarity which will improve your mental health. Don’t ever take your health for granted, Instead invest in your health to improve it. You can,

  • Exercise.
  • Go for a jog or walk.
  • Eating nutritional food.
  • Drink more water.
  • Don’t stress. (Better said than done, I know.)
  • Get a good night rest.
  • Dieting.

Without our health, we wouldn’t be able to perform the daily tasks that needs to be completed and our lives would really be unbalanced then.

I suffer from this problem at my work place daily. Getting disciplined for not turning my paperwork in before the deadline made me feel discouraged and worthless. Finally I came to the conclusion, I will shut my office door and organize everything by priority and barricade myself until it’s complete. And reward myself later by accompanying my co-workers with much needed adult conversation. It won’t be easy, but do your best to block out all distractions and I promise your work shift will go by much smoothly and you will feel more motivated.

Take time everyday to improving balance in your life or others around you. You will be more positive and satisfied with yourself and your lifestyle.

What helps you balance your lifestyle? Please let us know!

Self Love: What’s Atelphobia and How to Relieve it?

Hello my loves! It’s the beginning of the New Year and I’m starting this year with a clean slate. I’m wiping my hands clean of any problems, stress or worries that I had in 2016 that I wasn’t able to resolve. Those problems are where they belong, in the past. I’m making 2017 my mission to grow as a person from inside out and sprout a better version of me.

One problem I always faced while growing up (especially in high school) is fear of not being good enough and of course there’s a word for it –Atelphobia. I was shy and no one wanted to be my friend, My self esteem was ruined before it even started and there’s no worse feeling of being forced to be alone. I was confined to a pen and a piece of paper every lunch period and vent my thoughts and emotions until my hands started to cramp. And ever since then, I haven’t been able to stop. Not everyone has the same passion of writing as me, So how can one relieve the feeling of atelphobia?
How can you get over the feeling of not being good enough?

Let me be he first to tell you.. You ARE good enough! We’re all human and no one is perfect. Don’t let shame stop you from loving myself. Imperfection is apart of being human.

Over the past 5 years I have practiced meditation, prayers, affirmations and even detox cleansing. I was determined to love myself. However, to love yourself it’s not something you have to go buy at the store or research on the internet. I had made a commitment to follow when I felt unsure about my self that I hope helps someone like it helped me.

  1. Look in the mirror and tell yourself your beautiful and mean it.
  2. Accept who you are.
  3. Release all feelings of self-hate.

Don’t rely on someone else for happiness Everything you need your courage, love, compassion and everything else is already within you. You owe yourself that love that you give everyone but don’t receive in return.

Regardless of how anyone feels about you choose to be happy and love yourself each and every day!
