Refusing to Move Out at 22?!

 Hello sweeties!

When I got the call that my family and I was picked out of many other applicants to get the 2 bedroom townhouse perfect for my small family, I was genuinely excited.

When my fiancé and I actually signed our signature on the contract labeled lease, I began to come hesitant and nervous. I wanted to walk out the office and run back to the one place I truly called home. The place where I can cherish the last of my mother’s memories.

I have to admit being in my early 20s with a small family, I thought 5 years after my mother’s passing, moving out would be a “stroll through the park” mentally – wrong!

Moving out is a huge step in a person’s life, that’s the huge step into the real world. But actually packing up away the belongings/memories and moving away from the last place I was genuinely happy growing up in.

However, becoming homesick was the last thing I expected to happen while in the process of moving.

I was excited for the new beginnings to come. I was looking for hours on Pinterest for modern home decor for all the rooms of the townhouse! That you can check out my creative side here

It’s about that time I take that big step into the “real world” with “real world” problems with my little family and begin to create memories of our own, in our own place. And what I mean by “real world” problems is bills, bills and more bills! When your splitting the bills amongst 4 other siblings, I was able to tuck away a good amount for savings. (Cha-Ching!) Now I have to get use to paying more cash than I would like.

It didn’t hit me that I was actually moving until my fiancé asked how many boxes should he purchase for the move and which company for the moving truck.

I didn’t want to move anymore, I didn’t want to forget all the memories that was created by my siblings, mom and I. Every room is just how my mom left it after she passed away.

I still decorate the Christmas tree with the same ornaments she used to decorate the tree with.

It’s not fair to my family, I can’t be selfish to them by dwelling on something that’s a part of life and nothing  an be done away unfortunately. There’re many ways I can cherish the memories that my siblings, mom and I created while she was still alive:

  • Pictures.
  • Stories.
  • Home made videos.
  • Favorite items. (Music, food, movie etc.)
  • Activities in their honor.

And plenty more..

It’s going to be hard to move away from the once place I ever truly called home, but if I’m ever feeling homesick, it’s only a few blocks down the street! So I can always visit. Haha!

Until next time!

2. What’s one thing in your wardrobe that you cannot live without?

Right now, I cannot and will not leave the house without my comfy leg warmers. I live in Pennsylvania and let’s me just say, Mother Nature has her own agenda up here when it comes to the weather.

Con: Now I can’t speak for everyone, however we all started at the same spot once upon a time and it’s called the bottom. Book Review | All Things Beautiful By Jermaine Reed

Hello my loves,

I had the great pleasure of reading “All Things Beautiful,” a short story written by Jermaine Reed it’s by far an inspiring piece of literature.
All Things Beautiful is about a young writer named Brian, whose passion for writing is short-lived when his job search is coming up short. Desperate for money, he takes on a job as a home care provider and ends up caring for a paralyzed man named Mr. Kovac.

Three months into the job, Brian stumbles on a manila folder labeled “All Things Beautiful” in the attic of Mr. Kovac’s home while dusting. Curious, Brian opens up the unfinished manuscript and begins to read. Unbeknownst to Brian, an hour passes. Mr. Kovac is not happy about Brian’s unexplained absence.

Two more months go by after Brian gathers up the courage to ask stubborn Mr. Kovac about the unfinished manuscript found in the attic. Angered, Mr. Kovac, is still curious of Brian’s opinion. Brian encourages the old man to finish the beautifully written manuscript. However, Mr. Kovac quickly declines.

The next day Brian brings his laptop and persuades Mr. Kovac to tell the story while Brian types. Mr.Kovac gives in and begins to tell his story, few hours go by and finally finished, Mr. Kovac is pleased with the finished results. Once Brian brings up Mr. Kovac’s potential as a successful writer, Mr. Kovac quickly dismisses the idea.

Over the next four months, Mr.Kovac becomes a mentor to Brian by teaching him with creations of Mr. Kovac’s own.
Unfortunately 5 months later, Mr.Kovac passes away, leaving Brian the finished manuscript of “All Things Beautiful”.

I’m looking forward to knowing what Brian is going to do with the manuscript and his writing career now that he worked under Mr.Kovac expertise.
Look out for the full short story at Third Wednesday Magazine during the 2017 spring edition. You guys don’t want to miss this.

In the meantime, I encourage you to go to Jermaine’s blog here to check out more of his riveting short stories and blogging advice.

Until next time!

How Do You Stay Connected with Your Loved Ones?

Hello sweeties,

Ever since I became a mom, keeping in touch with my family and friends has always been very important, but hard to maintain for me. Being a full time working mom to 2 small children, I become so busy with work and my personal life that one day I realized I haven’t spoked to anyone other than my fiancé and small children for over a week!

You would think with all the updated technology, it would be much easier and smoother to stay in contact with your loved ones, well unfortunately no. Technology is improving rapidly each year and for me personally, it’s making my social life much easy for me to have under control. Some of my favorite electronics I use to stay in touch with my family are:

  • Social media.
  • Video chat.
  • Emails.
  • Text message.
  • Facebook messenger.
  • WhatsApp.
  • Linkedin.

Yet, some people want to keep the technology as simple as possible or may not know how to use it at all. Some of my close family members and friends are getting a little older and technology isn’t really their forte. However in my opinion, nothing beats sitting face to face and catching up with our loved ones with laughs, conversations and just good company. But what about the people that have busy schedules? Working moms (like me) that are too tired to pick up the phone after a long work day? Or what if your or your loved ones moved miles away?

What’s your next options on keeping in touch with your loved ones?
Luckily, I’ve found an amazing product for keeping in touch with older family members, children and family/friends that live far away, all while away from the comfort of home! It’s easy to use and user friendly, it’s the Nucleus Anywhere Intercom.

“Nucleus is a family communication device that connects you with the people you love, whether they’re downstairs or across the country.”
Unfortunately being a full time working mom, I get to miss out on the precious memories of my family and children while away at work. Using Nucleus Intercom, I’m able to teach/improve my older family members technology use, watch my daughter do that cartwheel she’s been dying to show me, watch my son pick his nose when no ones looking (haha!) and notify my fiancé dinner is ready over the intercom while away from my home or in the house as well.

It ensures me that my family is safe at home and I’m able to check in on them throughout the work day with great clarity and sound. My older family members were able to set up the device on their own and use it successfully the same day, even my 4 year old daughter was able to program it to call and hang up with no problem!

There is also a free mobile app called The Nucleus Mobile Companion that will allow you to connect to any Nucleus Intercom and connect with your family while on the go! How amazing is that?

The technology world has made communicating with my family much easier. I was aware my family had to improve on our communication, but geez! I didn’t realize how desperately we need it. And I’m happy that we did!

How do you stay connected with your family members?

5 Inspirational Quotes that Motivates You to Take Action!

Hello lovelies,

Lately I have been feeling so inspired, I want it to rub it off on as much people as possible!

Then the “good idea” alarm was going off in my head.

Each month I’ll be posting an article that features inspirational posts to remind you that you can do it and you can get through whatever obstacles that’s in your way.

I hope this new series inspire you all to get up, take actions and follow your dreams!

We all go through days where we we’re not in the happiest of moods or feeling like ourselves. Feelings of:

  • Laziness..
  • Feeling cranky/irritable.
  • Want to be alone.
  • Avoid others.

Whatever the reason may be, we all go through random “bad” days with no explanation why. Whenever I wasn’t feeling myself, I use to read inspiration quotes on Pinterest or online that would motivate me to get up, be productive and not waste the day ahead.

“Time is very precious, it’s one thing we don’t get back once it’s gone. Use it to your advantage!”

                               – Aneesha Monae

I came across 5 inspirational quotes on Pinterest (I do not own) that motivated me get through the roughest of days, even when I thought I couldn’t. I hope these quotes help you all like it’s helped me!

1.) The Best Project you’ll ever work on is you!

This quote is very accurate, when my mom passed away when I was 16 years old. I was positive I was going to go spiraling out of control (The teenage way of venting). However, with the unexpected pregnancy of my daughter in 2012 (Check it out the story here). I was determined to change for the better, for my daughter and for myself. I’m still a work in progress, I’ll never stop growing myself. And you shouldn’t either!

2.) They said “Be the person you needed as a kid.” This honestly changed me into who I am today.

When I was a kid my mom had to work a lot to take care of my siblings and I and with a total of 4 of us, my mom had to work a lot of overtime. Of course I was a kid and never understood why she was away all the time. Yet, my mom sacrificed all her time at work so my siblings and I can have any and everything we ever wanted. And for that I look at her as a superhero. No matter how exhausted, sick or frustrated she was. She got up and did it.

3.) You cannot hang out with negative people and expect to live a positive life.

Before I became a mom I was considered “popular” in high school. After I gave birth to my daughter is another story as to what had happened to the missing 20 friends I had (lol). All the friends I thought would be there during the most memberable but terrifying moment of my life, vanished without a trace just poof. However I had to sit down and think, Did I want that type of environment around my child? The negativity? The selfishness? Absolutely not, It’s their loss. 🙂

4.) It wasn’t a waste of time if you learned something from it.

This quote is my favorite. One of my blog’s goals for 2017 was for me to collaborate with other bloggers and be more social. However, since I’m a small/beginner blogger I need more experience and projects to bring to the table before discussing commission. Even though a reward would be nice, the experience and knowledge I learn along the way with these amazing bloggers and entrepreneurs will always be priceless in my book.

5.) When you feel like quitting think about why you started!

I’m a full time working (phlebotomist) mom but I love to write as a hobby. After a long work day I find it difficult to even write, let alone pick up a pen when I have a screaming 1 year old from teething and a 4 year old diva sneaking into my makeup bag. However, seeing people that are just like me become successful writers and bloggers inspires me that it can indeed happen. Don’t give up, with hardworking and dedication it can happen!

Do you have any quotes that helps you get through a rough day? Comment them below!

Until next time!

How Becoming a Teenage Mom Saved my Life.

Hello my sweets,

As many of you are aware, I had lost my mother at the age of 16 two days before Christmas in 2011. One little piece of information I have left out was that few months later after my mom’s passing, I was not expecting to receive the news that would change my life forever.

I was in denial that I was 11 days late on my period-I’m never late, 28th day of each month for 5 days! This routine has been apart of my life since I was 12 years old and all of a sudden it wants to do something out of the ordinary and not arrive on time! It was out of ordinary and it definitely made me raise an eyebrow.

The thought of pregnancy was at the very bottom of the list, I was going through a lot during that time frame anything could’ve been the cause of my period being late.

  • Stress.
  • Medication.
  • Excessive exercise.
  • Illness.

Stress had to be the cause of my late period right? I mean sure my boyfriend and I were “knocking boots” the month prior (Sorry, TMI) and sure I read online that after day 3 of a late period that’s a tell sign you’re pregnant. But you don’t believe everything you read on the internet right? I was a rock stuck in a hard place.

Yet, it made sense why I went with stress as my reason for my late period, I was still grieving my mom’s death. But taking a pregnancy test wouldn’t hurt right? So I thought, I’ll never forget the day I was sitting on the bathroom floor shocked after tearing through 3 boxes of positive pregnancy test of any brand you could think of! I was definitely pregnant and the thought that I couldn’t tell my mom, broke my heart into pieces.

After my mother’s death I was certain I was going to conflict self harm or even worse. I couldn’t face the truth, that the one person I need the most in my life is gone. However, the reality of me becoming a mother hit me hard, once a heartbeat was discovered stronger than ever at my scheduled doctor’s appointment later that week. It’s not about me anymore. Regardless of how I was feeling or thinking, I had a baby that needs their mother just like how I need mine. I refuse to put my child(ren) through the emotions and pain I was experiencing from losing my mom.  I had to get up and learn how to support and be a mother to my own child, and I had no clue where to begin or who to go too.

I went with my instincts and hoped for the best.

January 6, 2013 at 10:06 pm, I was greeted by a 6 pounds 1 ounce, 19 1/2 inches long baby girl that I named Adrienne. (I got her name from Adrienne Bailon from Cheetah Girls.)

It seemed as if Earth stopped spinning, and everything slowed down once our eyes met with one another’s for the very first time. Once they laid her on my chest, first thing I thought was “Your the little ham that refused to move your foot away from my ribs all these months!”. Haha

It was if all my fears, worries and concerns we’re gone. I fell in love the second I laid my eyes on her coming out the womb.(Yes, I watched through a mirror and it was gross but very beautiful thing to watch.)

Whenever the nurses cleaned her up and family and friends departed after welcoming the newest arrival to the family. I was nervous but ecstatic to have some alone time with my bundle of joy.

We would stare at each other for hours, nothing could break our concentration. Then one day something went off in my head-I played a part in creating this little human, which gave me a superior feeling that I am strong and can do anything as long as I put my mind to it and never give up.

My daughter is now 4 and from that day forward, I thank my daughter for saving my life. The day I discovered I was expecting, was the day Adrienne became top priority in my life, she was my responsibility. I had to protect, love, guide and shelter her, and what better person to take on that huge responsibility than your mom?

My daughter changed me in so many ways, one day I was knocking on the Grim Reaper’s door begging him to take me away from all my problems. Now the thought of my children and I separate for any reason makes me feel sick to my stomach.

Thank you so much Adrienne and Carter for being the piece that filled the empty space in my heart. Mommy will always love you!

Until next time!

4 “Popping” Drugstore Beauty Products of 2017!

Hello my sweets! A new year brings on new opportunities for people in anything they set their mind too. Once you decide you’re ready to go after your dreams, go for it and never stop until your are happy.

Back to the message at hand, This year I vowed I would do what I love this time around and stop wasting time with excuses. As I grew older I grew a found love for any and everything that’s about beauty. For some ladies and gents wearing eyelash extensions and doing a cut crease gives them confidence. And honey! The world is your oyster, may your day be as flawless as your makeup!

There’s no denying everytime my fiancé and I would  go shopping at our local drugstore (of course before getting dragged away like a little kid getting denied candy by hubby haha) I would go right into the makeup aisle and browse the amazing selections of inexpensive beauty products from anti-wrinkle creams to concealers and makeup tools for a very cheap price.

The amazing thing about drugstore products is that they’re hundreds of Makeup Dupes on Pinterest of MUAS performing swatches with highend makeup products and find that perfect match to pull off that high end look and still save money.

For example, ELF and MAC setting spray has the same consistency as one another. It gives your final appearance a matte polished finished and the only difference between the products is the price.

While shopping I have laid my eyes on a few makeup products which made me do a little research of my own on the products that’s supposed to be “popping” in the drugstore aisle of 2017. After watching beauty YouTubers reviews and reading customer feedback, I’m convinced the products listed below are a must have in my makeup bag for 2017.

I have read many reviews all stating the same thing about the matte lipstick by Milani Cosmetics. This matte lipstick comes with amazing pigmented colors and the lipstick stays on all day! You can get it at your local Target or Walgreens for 7.99 or online here.

(Click on picture to go to the owners URL.)

I have found this amazing highlighter by NYX from TatyBeauty a beauty YouTuber while looking to expand my “No Makeup” makeup look. TatyBeauty gives this highlighter a thumbs up if your looking for an inexpensive good quality highlighter. You can get this product at your local Ulta for $8.99 USD!

(Click on picture to go to the owners URL.)

(Click on the picture to go to the owners URL.)

When I was browsing for a new electric facial brush to purchase online for these clogged pores and blackheads, I was over joyed when I ran into the LAVO Giro Cleansing Brush on Amazon. I was skeptical because of the “eyebrow raising” price of  $25.97 USD. However, the customer reviews said otherwise that this facial brush is definitely on the “popping” list of beauty products and facial cleaning brushes. It minimizes pores, removes diets + oils and makes your face feel soft and clean right after.

Also! If you use promotion code “GIRO5OFF” it will take an additional $5.19 USD off the total of the facial brush! Look at that, inexpensive brush and more money in your pocket, sounds like a deal to me!

If you haven’t heard about ColourPop Cosmetics by now I just have one question – Where have you been?! ColourPop Cosmetics are known for their pigmented eyeshadows and of course their eyebrow selections.  Their eyebrow pencils come in a variety of natural colors.

  • Blonde.
  • Honey Blonde.
  • Dope Taupe.
  • Arched Auburn.
  • Red Head.
  • Angin’ Brunette.
  • Black N’ Brown.
  • Jesp

If you want natural looking eyebrows for $5.00 USD, Click here.

I’m excited to see what’s more to come from the beauty industry and this is only the beginning for my beauty journey! Will I try to keep my natural look or will I experience with vibrant colors?

Until next time!

I’m Turning 22… Now What?

I’ll be turning 22 in 3 months, 17 days, 6 hours and 50 minutes and counting.

Why is accepting that I’m getting older a hard pill to swallow? Is it the gray hair? Death? Wrinkles? Or there’s a 50/50 chance I’ll poo my pants if I laugh to hard? Haha Whatever the answer may be, I wish I can find the fountain of youth and go scuba diving all through it and stay young and alive forever! Wouldn’t that be cool?!

Turning 21 is a huge celebration for teenagers upgrading to adults. But what happens once you turn 22?

When I was 10 years old I use to sit at the top of my bunk bed and daydream for hours on how I wanted to be rich lawyer that own a law firm. By the age of 21 I thought I would have achieved a lot by now, degree in some sort, Traveled to atleast 25% of the U.S. and own a business. I had very high expectations for myself as a kid, Yet as I got older my childhood dreams of becoming a lawyer and owning a law firm became a vague memory.

Nonetheless, This isn’t the end of the world. Life isn’t a movie where there is a script or a retake. You can change the ending and title to your “movie” however you want it. You have to take the steps to get to achieve those goals plus more.

Even though 22 isn’t something you shot to the mountain tops over. However, this year will be my year to step out from the crowd, walk my own path and find my own destiny without no guidance and just follow my gut instinct!

Until next time!

  • Be more active.
  • No more soda or caffeine.
  • No more junk food.
  • Drink more water.

Yeah all those goals never made it past a month and I would think of any excuse to not begin or to not see the goal to the end. “I’m tired or I will do it tomorrow.” we’re my constant reasons for doing good one day and slowly going back to my old ways by saying it was okay to eat junk food because I’m going to exercise the carbs and sugar off the next day – knowing good well I wasn’t going to the gym that week or the week after.

Whatever the case may be.

The excuses we’re getting in the way of progressing myself into a happier lifestyle. This time around, I’m not allowing any excuse stop me from bettering myself and my health.
One of the goals that I always took off the list first was exercising and eating nutritional food.

After giving birth to my son Carter December of 2015, I went from 110 pounds to 160 pounds and the scale kept climbing each week. And lucky me! The weight did not go into the “right” places – Yes I’m being sarcastic people work with me! Even though I appear skinny and fit, I’m aware I am far from being in shape, I’m not even close.

For a 21 year old woman with no serious health issues, I shouldn’t be out of breath climbing a set of stairs. Enough is enough! I had to take action, I have two small children that needs their mother around as long as possible. And improving my health for the better will ensure that!

I have found amazing workout routines, healthy meal preps, tips to stay motivated and much more on Pinterest for beginners just like me.

Yes I’m aware I’m not a trainer, however if I can motivate someone who wants to better their health with hard work and dedication. I’m sorry but I don’t see the harm in that.

I listed below the pins (Pins don’t belong to me) that I currently added to my daily routine and my one hundredth attempt to get fit haha. I will also add insight on my experiences so far on my journey to becoming healthy!

When I seen this on Pinterest I was ecstatic to add this to my nighttime routine. When you’re completely out of shape like me this simple exercise routine kicked my butt in all angles haha. Yet, after a couple of nights of adjusting my body to my new addition to my bedtime routine, It became much easier to get adjusted and even add a few more squats or leg lifts to feel productive before going to bed.

When I told my fiancé I want our family to start eating more healthy, he thought it was an amazing idea and wanted to start that very morning! We went to our local grocery store and followed this simple grocery store guideline to purchasing healthier food which made shopping a breeze. I was never a vegetable eater but after tasting cabbage, squash and asparagus I was hooked and so was my kids, surprisingly.

I fell in love with this water bottle when I seen it on Pinterest. I have a hard time remembering to drink water throughout the workday. I’ll pick up a glass of juice or soda faster than a glass of water, which is a big no. This bottle is a great reminder to drink water every hour of the hour until it’s time for bed. You will feel hydrated and awake once you add drinking eight 8-ounce glasses of water a day to your daily routine.

Hopefully this motivates you like it motivated me to get up and get fit! Until next time!
